Results and leverage are two words most frequently used to describe the Southern Environmental Law Center. Through cutting-edge work in all three branches of government, SELC uses the full power of the law to conserve healthy air, clean water, wild lands, and livable communities across the Southeast. We have close partnerships with more than 100 local, state, and national groups, complementing their efforts with SELC's professionalism, legal and strategy expertise, and unique region-wide perspective. Founded in 1986, SELC is the South's largest and leading environmental advocate, with 69 employees; core offices in Charlottesville (HQ and VA/TN office), Chapel Hill (NC/SC office), and Atlanta (GA/AL office); and satellite offices in Washington, DC, Asheville, Charleston, and Sewanee.
